This program takes place every Wednesday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The CoCoRec Gymnasium is available for those home school families that are looking for a physical outlet for their children, and for a way for parents to get together and socialize. The Open Gym allows for the children, along with their parents, to play basketball, kickball, and Wiffle Ball, as well as play on our available gymnastics mats. 30+ children and parents have been gathering together each week. No reservation is needed and there is no charge for this activity.

Kakko Ha Sogo Goshin Jitsu is a self defense martial art, combining the best Karate and Jiu Jitsu principles of Okinawa, Japan and Brazil.
Our focus is on practical methods of modern day self defense with traditional teachings of discipline and respect for our fellow man.

David Kirkwood, AKA Coach K, has been providing gymnastics instruction to the children of the Low Country for over 30 years. Coach K is a 1974 graduate of Ball State University with a degree in Physical Education and Health. During 1976-1983, while on active duty, Coach K was co-owner of Gymnastics Unlimited. He is a former US Army Special Forces Staff Sergeant and a highly decorated Vietnam veteran, as well as a retired Marine Lieutenant Colonel. Moreover, he served as assistant women’s gymnastics and volleyball coach at George Washington University during the mid 80’s.
Coach K retired from active duty in the mid 1990’s, after serving a tour on Okinawa, Japan, with over 27 years of dedicated service. Shortly afterward, he started Sports Academy Gymnastics and continues to provide gymnastics instruction and programs to the children of Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton, and Colleton County. The Sports Academy, headquartered in Beaufort and offering a full range of gymnastics and dance programs, is one of the finest gymnastics training centers in the state. Currently, the Sports Academy operates two satellite gymnastics programs in conjunction with the Colleton Country-Walterboro Recreation Commission, and the Hampton County Recreation Department.
Coach K is assisted by Amanda Keenum, a former highly accomplished Sports Academy Level 8 gymnast, and an honor student at Thomas Heyward Academy.

WEIGHT WATCHERS AT THE REC CENTER
The Weight Watchers Points Plus program will give you the edge to make the right choices and to stay on track. With Points Plus, you will learn to choose foods that keep you full longer, so you're less likely to eat for the wrong reasons, like when your bored or stressed. And that means you can lose weight and keep it off.
Weigh-Ins are from 5:00 to 5:30pm. Meeting is from 5:30 to 6:00pm
Fees: $30.00 to join plus $12.00 per week or; $55.00 pays for joining plus 4 weeks
