                Walterboro's National League All Star Minors baseball team traveled to Bamberg on June 17th and 18th to compete in the All Star Warm Up Tournament. The boys went undefeated (4-0) claiming the championship.  They gave an impressive performance scoring 55 runs and only allowing 9 runs.

Team members are as follow: Head Coach Donnie Crosby, Asst. Coach Ricky Nix, Asst. Coach Daniel Cox

Players are: Wesley Bryan, Jam Bryant, Cody Cox, Jordan Crosby, Chase Hadwin, Connor Morris, Jesse Murdaugh, Trey Nettles, Brett Nix, Cody Perritte, Brad Strickland.

                Special thanks to Travis Langdale from Coastal Recycling for providing the boys with shirts for this tournament.

COCOREC MACHINE PITCH ALL-STARS FINISHED AS RUNNERS UP IN THE DISTRICT 8
ALL-STARS TOURNAMENT HOSTED BY HILTON HEAD.  THE TEAM HAD A TOURNAMENT RECORD OF 3 -2 WITH WINS OVER BEAUFORT EAST (10-9), BLUFFTON NATIONAL  (18-6), AND BLUFFTON AMERICAN (10-5).  OUR TEAMS ONLY 2 LOSSES WERE TO HILTON HEAD WHO DEFEATED OUR TEAM IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP.  OUR TEAM WILL NOW ADVANCE TO PLAY IN THE STATE MACHINE PITCH TOURNAMENT IN DILLON, SC. ON JULY 15TH. GREAT JOB GUYS AND WE WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK IN STATE!

COACHES CERTIFICATION

ONLY CERTIFIED COACHES THAT HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY THE COCOREC DEPARTMENT CAN COACH IN THE COCOREC BASEBALL/SOFTBALL LEAGUE


Coaches will be responsible for taking this certification "on-line" at NAYS.org.  The fee for this certification is $25.00, which can also be paid on-line.   Each year every coach MUST be certified. 


After completing the online course, all coaches are required to forward a receipt from the online program to the Recreation Department.  Must be completed and forwarded by March 1, 2012.
 


Background checks are also required.  Simply go to http://www.ncsisafe.com and click on "Background Check Screening Self Registration" on the left side of the webpage.  Complete three easy steps:  Must be completed and verified by March 1, 2012.

He is Just A Little Boy 

He stands at the plate,
with his heart pounding fast.
The bases are loaded,
the die has been cast. 

Mom and Dad cannot help him,
he stands all alone.
A hit at this moment,
would send the team home. 

The ball meets the plate,
he swings and he misses.
There's a groan from the crowd,
with some boos and some hisses. 

A thoughtless voice cries,
strike out the bum.
Tears fill his eyes,
the games no longer fun. 

So open your heart
and give him a break.
For it's moments like this,
a man you can make. 

Please keep this in mind,
